Etu Pasifika, the largest Pacific health provider in Christchurch, has been prompt in their response to Pacific families wanting to be vaccinated once news of the case in Tonga and Christchurch was made known. 

In a news piece for TVNZ 1News, Clinical Director for Etu Pasifika, Dr Monica Nua George, says it is important that Pacific families take the opportunity to get vaccinated. 

“Our families live in large groups and we go out and see our families in large groups as well so that’s always a concern for us.

We hope that this will encourage our families to think about getting vaccinated because that is the only way to protect us at this point.”

The team at Etu Pasifika held a vaccination drive over the weekend and vaccinated 264 people, the majority being Pacific. 

They have organized and run several vaccination events for Pacific communities in Christchurch and are also mobilizing an outreach vaccination programme to vaccinate workers in the Christchurch community.
