To celebrate Tongan Language Week, Etu Pasifika Canterbury had an interactive programme planned for the week to engage staff with the Tongan language and culture.
The programme included educational workshops, traditional shared lunch and a fun Friday full of music and performance.
The team were treated to a special performance from the Ongo ‘o e Mo‘ui Brass Band from the Free Church of Tonga. The band shared a beautiful selection of music, including songs composed by Queen Sālote, and supported staff as they sang Himi 114.
Team members dressed in red to mark the occasion and honour Tongan culture, continuing celebrations with a shared lunch featuring traditional favourites including moa Tonga, manioke, ‘otai, and ota.
