Strengthening Pacific communities: Meet our new Navigator
As we embark on another year of serving our Pacific families and communities, Etu Pasifika Canterbury is thrilled to welcome a new Whānau Ora Navigator to the team, (Leasiolagi) Maseiga Taufua. A proud Samoan woman, Maseiga hails from the beautiful villages of Lalomanu and Ulutogia in Samoa.

Maseiga is excited to step into her new role as a Whānau Ora Navigator for EPC. With a passion for meaningful and holistic health approaches, she encourages our Pacific people to reconnect with their ancestral roots as part of their health journey.

"I am most excited about the opportunity to engage with our Pacific community and support them in making positive life choices. Together, we can embrace our shared values and empower one another to create a healthier, brighter future.

"For me, it’s essential to integrate our cultural values and beliefs into improving health and well-being. This includes embracing traditional practices, fostering community connections, and honouring the wisdom of our tua’a (ancestors). A blend of these elements can help us achieve a healthier and more balanced way of life."

When asked how she practices a healthy lifestyle outside of work, Maseiga shared:

"I am committed to promoting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through acts of service. Whether it’s within my family, church, or community, I believe our people thrive through shared knowledge, support, and encouragement."

Her values align perfectly with the Whānau Ora Navigator role and the services EPC provides for Pacific communities and families.

We are excited to have Maseiga join our team this year and look forward to the impact she will make. She leaves us with one of her favourite Samoan proverbs, which inspires her daily.

“E vave taunu’u le malaga pe a tatou alo va’a fa’atasi” – The journey is quicker when we paddle the canoe together.
