Born and raised in Canterbury’s town of Lyttelton, Mauger proudly traces his roots to French Polynesia, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. This rich heritage, combined with his local upbringing, fuels his passion for community and culture. 

"I'm really looking forward to this new role. While it’s a new position for me, I’m excited about the opportunities to enable healthier communities for our families and Pacific people." 

Mauger believes his skills in teamwork, leadership, and community connection will make a meaningful contribution to EPC’s mission. 

"I suppose what I bring to the table is my experience and skill set in bringing teams and people together and connecting with our community. As a Board, we want to empower our people in Christchurch to thrive and envision a life of success for themselves, whatever that may look like to them, and I’m really looking forward to being part of that journey." 

For Mauger, serving on EPC’s board also holds deep cultural significance. 

"It’s really important, as Cantabrians and Pacific people, to support our growing Pacific population in every way we can. If we get that right, our people will live longer, healthier lives, which will have a ripple effect on future generations." 

Looking ahead, Mauger acknowledges the meaningful journey ahead and the opportunity to make a real difference. 

"This role is incredibly rewarding to me personally. I’m excited to contribute, grow, and help lead initiatives that positively impact our people and their well-being."
