The Pasifika Super Saturday Community Vaccination Event is this coming Saturday 6 August and is shaping to be a mass vaccination of epic proportions with most of the key Canterbury Health providers joining forces to get as much of the Pacific community out to be vaccinated for different things during this winter period.

Amongst the health providers is Etu Pasifika Christchurch, the largest health provider for Pacific families in Canterbury, who will have their staff and partners out in two locations this coming Saturday.

Firstly, at Te Aratai College in Christchurch from 10:00am to 4:00pm and secondly at Ashburton College in Ashburton from 10:00am to 3:00pm. These sites are part of the wider Super Saturday Event and families are invited to come along and get themselves vaccinated for Covid-19, the flu or/and MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella).

All vaccinations are free and Clinical Director for Etu Pasifika, Dr Monica Nua-George, strongly encourages families to take advantage of the selection of vaccinations on offer for the whole family to ensure everyone stays healthy and protected from toddlers right up to grandparents.

“During winter families are more prone to the flu and covid-19 so this event is targeted at all family members as we can vaccinate everyone from 3 years old upwards with Covid-19, Flu and MMR vaccinations. There will also Pacific nurses and doctors like me on site who can answer questions and provide clarity for parents and caregivers”.

The vaccination events in Christchurch and Ashburton will also have a sausage sizzle, hot drinks and plenty of giveaways for families.

“The Pasifika Super Saturday Community Vaccination Event is designed for our families and will be done our way with a sausage sizzle, drinks, music, colour, vouchers and plenty of other giveaways for kids to acknowledge families and their commitment to be vigilant in keeping our communities safe”, says Dr Nua-George.

“Let’s get vaccinated and look after each other”.
